Respiratory Travel
More than 80% of travel respiratory therapy jobs are in hospitals, mainly in departments of respiratory care, anesthesiology, or pulmonary medicine. However, a growing number of openings are expected to be outside of hospitals, especially in home health care services, offices of physicians or other health practitioners.
Job opportunities should be very good, especially for respiratory therapists with cardiopulmonary care skills or experience working with infants. The increasing demand will come from a significant increase in the middle-aged and elderly population. Since older Americans suffer the most from respiratory ailments and cardiopulmonary diseases such as pneumonia, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, and heart disease, the need for respiratory therapists is expected to increase.
Travel respiratory therapists evaluate, treat, and care for patients with breathing disorders. Some travel respiratory therapists may be required to assume primary responsibility for all respiratory care therapeutic treatments and diagnostic procedures, including the supervision of respiratory therapy technicians.
As a travel respiratory therapist you will have the option to choose where and when you will work. You can select from a variety of clinical settings such as teaching facilities, large healthcare facilities, and local hospitals. Typical assignments last 13 weeks, and upon completion you can either renew at the same facility or move to a new location.
