The San Francisco Bay area is one of the world’s most popular destinations for medical travel jobs. One of the biggest landmarks in San Francisco is the Golden Gate Bridge. Built in the 1930’s, this gateway is where the bay meets the Pacific Ocean. Shore to shore the roadway extends for a mile and a quarter and is 750 feet above the water. The Golden Gate Park is another must-see in San Francisco. The park includes the M.H. deYoung Museum, Japanese Tea Garden, California Academy of Sciences, and acres of natural wonders.
The second biggest landmark is the Alcatraz Prison in the middle of San Francisco Bay. In operation for only 29 years, Alcatraz is most famous for the escapes from this allegedly “escape-proof” facility. Today, Alcatraz attracts more visitors than almost any other National Park site in America. The prison is now open to the public for day and night tours, so be sure to check it out during your medical travel job.
